Description

This ornamental garden fountain, located 140 metres southeast of Ascott House, was created around 1890 by the sculptor Waldo Story. It is made of bronze and marble and features a figure of Venus standing on a terrapin in a shell chariot. The chariot is drawn by horses with webbed wings and hooves, and is led by a triton. The fountain was illustrated in Country Life in 1900 on pages 424 and 247.
