Description
Britwell Lodge is a mid-19th century lodge located on Lower Britwell Road in Burnham. It is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and features a machine tile roof with toothed ridge tiles. The building has a T-plan layout and stands two storeys tall, with a possible later addition at the rear that is one storey. All windows are fitted with square-paned leaded lights.
The long arm of the T has a gable end adorned with stone finials at the corners and apex. The first floor includes a three-light casement window with a moulded stone drip course. On the ground floor, there is a segmental bay window with a top moulding that continues as a stringcourse around the building. The roof has paired chimneys positioned centrally.
The short arm of the T also has a gable end with stone finials and a stone pepper pot at the apex. It features a three-light casement window above a stone panel that displays the arms of the Christie Miller family. In the left-hand angle of the T, there is a one-storey porch with a semicircular arch filled with a cast iron gate that has scroll work and a coat of arms. The right-hand section of the long arm contains a one-light casement window. This lodge serves as an entrance to Britwell House.
