Description

Rands Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century, which was refronted and extended in the mid-19th century. The structure features a complete timber frame that is exposed on the left gable, with whitewashed brick infill, part of which is herringbone pattern. The front is rendered and includes a plinth, quoins, and surrounds for the openings. The roofs are covered with slates on the front and tiles on the rear, with brick stacks located on the right gable and between the left-hand bays. The house has an L-plan layout from the 17th century on the left, with an 18th-century dairy attached to the rear and a 19th-century bay on the right. The front elevation has two storeys and three bays, featuring barred sash windows. The ground floor windows have plain surrounds with shallow triangular tops, while the first-floor windows are framed with architraves. The door between the left-hand bays has a plain surround and a shallow rendered cornice hood supported by brackets. There is a four-panelled door between the right-hand bays, which includes a small rectangular fanlight and a rendered doorcase with Doric columns, an entablature, and a pediment, with a barred sash window above it. Additionally, there is an early 19th-century barn made of weatherboard with a slate roof located in the range to the left.
