Description

The shelter shed at Downley Farm, located approximately 10 meters north of the stable, dates from the mid to late 20th century and was built for the Dashwood Estate. It features a timber frame that is open on the eastern front, with weatherboard cladding on a brick plinth. The roof is half-hipped and covered with plain tiles. The structure is one storey high and consists of four by two bays. It is supported by wooden posts resting on chamfered padstones, with base braces and straight braces connecting to the wall-plates and tie-beams. There is a doorway at each gable end. Inside, the shed has collared queen-post roof trusses with clasped purlins and a plank ridge, along with straight braces to the wall framing and roof. This building is included for its group value.
