Description
Moor Cottage is a house with a projecting bay at the front, which is dated 1723 on a beam. The rear wing dates from the 17th century, with an early 18th-century half bay to the right. The building has been altered and largely rebuilt in the 19th century, with refurbishments in the 20th century. It is mostly constructed of brick, with the right bays featuring some timber framing in the rear wall. The right gable is partly made of flint and partly rendered. The roof is covered with old tiles, and there is a brick chimney, partly rendered, at the center of the rear wing. The house is designed in an L-shape and has 1½ to 2 storeys with 2½ bays. The right bays have raised dentil eaves and a brick inscription reading "W. Hoskins 1810." The left bay is gabled and projecting. The windows on the ground floor right have been replaced with 20th-century leaded casements in hardwood frames, which replaced bay windows. There is a door in a 20th-century lean-to extension to the right of the projection. Inside, the cottage features timber-framed cross walls with diagonal bracing and a shaped bracket supporting the spine beam in the rear left room. The building is included for its group value.
