Description
Coldmoorholm Cottage is a house dating from the 16th century, significantly refurbished around 1934. The structure is timber-framed, featuring curved braces. The ground floor was largely rebuilt during the 19th and 20th centuries using brick and flint, while the upper floor has colourwashed plaster infill on the north side and brick infill on the south side. The roof is tiled, with rebuilt brick chimneys. The house is two storeys high, with a jettied gable end projecting over the road. It has three and a half bays. Windows are irregular, consisting of 2 and 3-light leaded casements dating from around 1934. Board doors of the same date are present on both the north and south sides; the north door has a small tiled hood. A later external chimney is located at the front of the left bay on the south front. The gable facing the road has the upper storey jettied, supported by curved wooden brackets on the right side. A stone carving of an angel is set below an upper window. A single-storey brick extension has been added to the far gable. The ground-floor room at the road end features heavy joists and stop-chamfered cross beams. The room above, now divided into separate spaces, originally had an open central truss with curved braces to the tie beams, alongside two bays of arched wind-braces. One central ground floor room has stop-chamfered joists and a spine beam. The far room has longitudinal joists. Curved wind-braces are present in both of the far bays.
