Description
The former orangery, now used as classrooms, is located west of The Mansion at Stowe School. It was built in the 18th century and features stucco with ironstone dressings and a slate roof with a parapet. The building is one storey high, with a central block that has three bays and a two-storey pediment that slightly projects. There are five bay flanking wings, and the ground floor is arcaded, although the openings have been filled with modern steel windows. The first floor has three sash windows. The classroom blocks were added in 1923 by Clough Williams Ellis, featuring a central block with a copper domed collonaded cupola. The western block is a replica of the former orangery.
