Description

Court Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 18th to early 19th century, largely remodelling a building originating from the 16th and 17th centuries. The front is of red brick with a rubble stone plinth and moulded brick coping, with dentil eaves. The south front has been rendered. It has an old tile roof, hipped to the right, and an external brick chimney to the left. A large 16th-17th century brick stack remains to the rear, with a rendered base and two brick shafts rebuilt in the 20th century, one set diagonally. The house is two storeys and an attic, with four bays, the bay to the right originally an outbuilding. It has four-pane sash windows, renewed in the 20th century, and a 20th-century door within the second bay. The rear features an early 19th-century two-storey projection, a whitewashed brick lean-to, and 20th-century attic dormers. The interior partition between the left bays showcases heavy timber framing with large curved braces. The attic has a plastered brick and timber fireplace with a chamfered depressed arch. A central first-floor room is reputed to have been used as a court room.
