Description
Old Oak Farmhouse is an early 17th century timber-framed farmhouse with additions from the 18th and 19th centuries. It has a letter-L plan and is two storeys high. The building is colourwashed flint or brick, except for the jettied first floor of the east range, which features red brick nogging and plastered infill on its return elevation. The gable elevation includes a splayed gabled oriel supported by two brackets, with a modern central door and windows below. There is a lean-to at the right angle of the structure. The west wing has casement windows, while the first floor features horizontal sliding sashes and dentil eaves. A modern single-storey addition is located at the west end. At the east end, there is a large original stack made of flint and brick, which has three hexagonal shafts with ovolo moulded caps and bases, along with a two-storey addition. The early range includes two panelled stacks. Inside, there is a stone fireplace on the first floor with a four-centred head and a pediment above, as well as a chamfered and stopped ceiling beam.
