Description

The Cottage is a small house dating from the 17th century, which was likely originally timber framed and later encased in 18th-century brick, now mostly covered in a colourwash. It features an old tiled roof that extends over a lean-to on the south side and has an old chimney stack located in the center. The building has two storeys and an attic. The gable elevation facing the road has two 2-light cast iron windows with segmental arch heads on both the ground and first floors, along with a 2-light wooden window in the attic. The left flank elevation includes one similar cast iron window on each floor and an early 20th-century canted bay window on the right, which has a tiled roof and leaded glazing. There is also a slightly projecting bay on the left with one 3-light leaded casement window with a segmental arch on each floor. The right flank elevation features a door and one 3-light leaded window. Inside, there are large inglenook fireplaces associated with the central stack.
