Description
The Manor House is a house dating from the late 17th century, substantially rebuilt in the mid to late 19th century. It is built of coursed gritstone with ashlar detailing. Originally three bays wide and two storeys high, it is now configured as two bays. It features quoins. The south front has a central, projecting storeyed porch, likely rebuilt from the earlier house. The porch has heavily moulded jambs and a triangular head above the doorway. The first floor above the porch oversails, with a square recess containing a four-light mullion and transom window, returned with a single light to the left and right. Above this is a wheel window with an inner and outer circle of six lights, and above that are two moulded courses and a small segmental window within the gable. Flanking the porch on the ground and first floors are four-pane sash windows in projecting surrounds. Blocked openings are visible on the left and right of the porch to ground, first, and second floors. The left return features a 19th-century facade with a central glazed door set in a plain surround with a cornice and scrolled plaque bearing the house name. Flanking the door are four-pane sash windows on the ground and first floors, with an end stack to the left and a stack running up the ridge to the right, aligned with the windows. The south front of the original 17th-century house was probably gabled, with mullion and transom windows flanking the porch, and likely had the wheel window directly above the doorway. The facade was remodelled in the 19th century when the main facade of the house was extended to the west. The interior was not inspected during a recent survey.
