Description
Sowersett is a mid-18th century farmhouse with adjoining outbuildings, now incorporated into a larger house. The building is constructed of rubble with a stone slate roof. It has two storeys and a 1:2:1 arrangement of first-floor windows. The central section of the house is framed by a pent-roofed two-storey porch and a single-storey pent-roofed porch extension to its left, containing a 20th-century two-light, flat-faced mullion window within an architrave. To the left of the house, on each floor, are similar windows. To the right, there is one bay of original 18th-century three-light, flat-faced mullion windows set within architraves. To the left of the main house is a former outbuilding with a bay of 20th-century two-light, flat-faced mullion windows in architraves. A former outbuilding to the right has quoins on its right-hand side and timber steps leading to a first-floor part-glazed board door. A 20th-century lean-to addition to the right is not of particular interest. At the rear of the house, sash windows are set within quoined surrounds. The left return features two windows reusing parts of the original surrounds of 18th-century windows.
