Description
Brackenrigg is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with later alterations. It is constructed of coursed rubble and has a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and three first-floor windows. On the left side, there is a single-storey lean-to porch that features quoined corners, a part-glazed door with ashlar jambs, and a chamfered single-light window to its left. Inside the porch, there is an old board door with a wrought-iron latch set in a chamfered quoined surround.
The ground-floor windows of the house include two 20th-century casements in flush surrounds. On the first floor, there is a central single-light window in a flush surround, flanked by 20th-century casements set within two-light double-chamfered mullion windows. The right side of the building has ashlar coping, and there are stacks at both ends and in the center. The farm buildings to the left and right are not of special interest, and there are lean-to outbuildings at the rear.
Inside, there is a chamfered ashlar Tudor-arched fireplace in the ground-floor room to the left. At the time of the resurvey, the farmhouse was unoccupied.
