Description
The guide post, located at SD 9986 6309, is an early to mid 19th-century structure made of gritstone. It has a triangular shape with a pointed top and stands approximately 2 metres high. The post features incised capital letters and painted arrows indicating directions. On the left face, it reads "THRESHFIELD/ KILNSEY/ BURNSALL," while the right face shows "GRASSINGTON/ SKIPTON." This guide post is situated along the turnpike road that runs along the south-west side of the River Wharfe, which was established in the late 18th century to connect Addingham with the Askrigg turnpike.
