Description
This is a chimney and flue located approximately 150 metres south-south-west of Cote Farmhouse. It was rebuilt in 1847 and is constructed of rubble. The chimney has a square plan, measuring about 1.75 metres wide, and it tapers slightly as it rises to a height of approximately 6 metres, leaning slightly as well. The flue runs south-west from the chimney and is about 500 millimetres wide internally, featuring a barrel vault at the junction with the chimney. It originally had a slab covering for the rest of its length. This structure served the water-powered Burton lead smelting mill, which ceased operations in 1870. Some rubble from the mill can be found near Whiterow Road.
