Description

The icehouse in the grounds of Ingleborough Hall dates from around 1815. It is constructed of ashlar and rubble. The entrance is rectangular and leads to a corridor approximately 5 metres long, featuring pointed turned vaulting. Inside, there is a circular ice well that measures about 14 metres from the base to the ashlar vaulting of the domed ceiling. The icehouse is situated between the kitchens of Ingleborough Hall and the former stables.
