Description

Underknotts is a house dating to 1749, as indicated by a datestone. It is constructed of stone rubble with a slate roof. The house is two storeys with an attic, and originally had five bays. Windows are now metal casements, though the attic dormer retains small-paned glazing. A C20 gabled porch covers the entrance, and may obscure a previously existing window above. Gable end stacks are present, with the stack on the right side corbelled and featuring set-offs over a later lean-to outshut. The rear elevation has a low projection on the right-hand end, with varied windows incorporating dripstones. The first bay has a pivoted casement, and the second bay has a two-light leaded casement in the attic above a stair window.
