Description
The graveyard boundary walls to the original parish church at Firbank are of uncertain date, possibly dating back to before the Reformation, and were recorded in the mid-17th century. The church itself was demolished in the 1830s. The dry stone walls enclose an area of approximately 31 meters square, with an entrance on the west side. Within the graveyard, there are some gravestones dating from the early 19th century. To the south-east is Fox's pulpit, where George Fox preached for three hours to around 1,000 Seekers on June 13, 1652. This meeting was significant as it led to the formation of the Society of Friends, also known as the Quakers.
