Description

Nether Bainbridge Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, likely built in the early to mid 18th century. It has undergone alterations and recent renovations. The building is constructed from roughly-coursed mixed rubble with quoins and is white-washed except on the east side. The roof features stone slate in the lower courses and slate in the upper courses. The farmhouse has an asymmetric T-plan, consisting of a two-unit main range oriented east-west and facing south, with a shallow rear staircase outshut and a rear wing offset to the east.

The exterior is two storeys and an attic with three windows, appearing almost symmetrical. The ground floor features a central square-headed doorway (now with a 20th-century glazed door), a square two-light casement window to the left with six-pane glazing in each leaf, and a 20th-century six-pane casement window to the right. On the first floor, there is a four-pane hornless sash window to the left and replacement four-pane sashes in the centre and to the right. The gable chimneys are corbelled and square, both adorned with stone-slate courses and cornices. The left gable wall has two small one-light windows at ground floor, a two-light window at first floor with a chamfered wooden mullion, and a stone pigeon-hole opening to the attic. The right gable wall, featuring a stone-slate course over the ground floor, has a doorway near the front corner (likely inserted) and a square window near the rear corner, along with two small square windows at first floor (all with recent joinery) and two similar but smaller windows in the attic. The rear of the main range includes a staircase outshut with offset stair windows on three levels, while the wing has a small one-light window next to the junction, one rectangular window on each floor, one window at ground floor of the rear gable, and a gable chimney.

The interior has not been inspected, but a previous listing description mentions a stone spiral stair, a moulded stone fireplace hood, and panelling.
