Description
Nettlebed House and byre is a farmhouse and byre under one roof, likely built in the late 18th century. The structure is made of rubble with crude quoins and features a stone slate roof. It has two storeys, a stair turret, and a single-storey outshut at the rear. The house has two first-floor windows and a 20th-century four-panel door to the right. The ground floor windows are set under large lintels and contain four-pane sashes, with the left window partly infilled. The first-floor windows have slab lintels and reveals, featuring unequally-hung sashes with glazing bars. There are two end stacks and one central stack. At the rear, the central stair turret has two very small windows, one of which is blocked. Inside, there is a large fireplace located in the centre right and stairs in the turret. The byre was added on the left and is not of special interest. In 1795, a building known as Nettlebed House, likely this one, was demolished and rebuilt by Richard Garth.
