Description

The building comprises a house and byre, now used as accommodation, built under a single roof and dated 1750. It is constructed of coursed watershot sandstone rubble with a projecting plinth and crude quoins, topped with a stone slate roof. The house section has two bays. Window and door openings feature tooled ashlar surrounds; window reveals display evidence of former metal bars. The central doorway has been raised and has a slightly chamfered surround with a panel on the lintel inscribed "IC 1750", featuring a 20th-century four-panelled door. Ground-floor windows are square sashes with 16 panes, while first-floor windows are taller sashes of a similar design. A shaped kneeler is present on the right side, alongside ashlar copings and end stacks. The rear elevation displays projecting through-stones and three irregularly spaced windows with six-pane fixed frames and glazing bars in plain stone surrounds. The byre, located to the left, has three doorways at ground-floor level and a pitching door on the first floor.
