Description

Lilac Cottage is a house, dated 1656. It is constructed of limestone rubble with a graduated stone slate roof. The property originally had two bays. The right-hand side features a double board door set within a deeply chamfered surround; the segmental doorhead contains recessed panels with the date "1656" and the initials "WF" carved in raised letters. The windows are recessed and chamfered, featuring mullions. Ground floor windows have two or three lights, with one mullion having been removed, and each has a hood mould. First floor windows have two or two lights. Quoins are visible on the right side of the building. An additional bay has been added to the left, but this is not considered to be of special architectural interest. The interior was not inspected during a resurvey, but it is reported to contain a broad chimney arch.
