Description

Beckside is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century. Constructed of limestone rubble with ashlar dressings, it has a graduated stone slate roof. The house is two storeys high and has three bays. Quoins are visible. The central entrance features a board door in a plain surround, topped by a Gothick traceried semicircular fanlight in a matching plain surround. Flanking the door are 24-pane sashes in irregularly shaped stone surrounds. A similar window, with a smaller twenty-pane window to the centre, is found on the first floor, alongside 20th-century casements. Corniced stacks are located at each end of the house and on the ridge, to the left of the entrance. The property is included on the heritage list for its group value. The interior was not inspected during a recent survey.
