Description

Toll Bar House is a tollhouse, dating from the 1840s, originally serving the Keighley to Kendal turnpike road. It has undergone alterations in the 20th century. The building is constructed of limewashed rubble with painted stone dressings and a stone slate roof. It is a single-storey, three-bay structure. The left-hand entrance has a plain surround and a door installed around 1975. Two windows have splayed surrounds and casement windows, also installed around 1975, each with a hoodmould. A tile coping defines the hipped roof. A central ridge stack is present. A rear extension was added around 1975.
