Description

Low Warehouse Bridge Number 171 and integral lock, built around 1790, is a public road bridge and lock designed by engineer Robert Whitworth. The bridge is constructed of dressed stone and features a single segmental arch with rusticated voussoirs. It has a band and a solid parapet, both sloping at the midpoint. The bridge has curving abutments and in piers. The footings extend as the retaining walls of the lock, which are also made of dressed stone and are rebated for gates.
