Description

The gazebo in the churchyard to the north of the Church of St Mary dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is an octagonal structure with two storeys, built of squared rubble with a watershot finish to the basement. The building features quoins, a sill band, and coping. It has a raised entrance accessed by flying steps with railings. The doorway and three windows on alternate faces are all round-headed, with plain stone surrounds, impost blocks, and keystones. The gazebo is now topped with cement blocks designed to resemble battlements. Originally, it was part of the vicarage garden and had a steep pyramidal roof in the early 19th century.
