Description
The gazebo, located in the southwest corner of the Rectory garden, dates from the early 18th century. It is constructed of ashlar stone on a rubble stone base and features a pyramid slate roof topped with a ball finial, which was in storage as of 1984. The structure has a square plan and is two stories tall. It includes a moulded plinth, channelled corner piers, and a moulded eaves cornice that is broken forward over the piers. There is one window on the sides and rear, each with a bolection moulded surround and a fielded apron panel beneath. The north front has a bolection moulded doorcase with a pediment hood supported by scrolled brackets, above a fielded eight-panel door. Access to the door is via nine stone steps, which are flanked by plain iron rails. Inside, there is a corner fireplace and fielded-panel window seats on the east and south sides. The garden wall to the south and east of the Rectory garden is also listed under Vicarage Lane.
