Description
The Grange is a house and cottage, now functioning as a single residence, along with outbuildings, railings, and gate-piers. It was built in 1762 and features coursed rubble with ashlar surrounds around the openings, a stone slate roof, and cast-iron railings. The building is two storeys high and has three first-floor windows with 4-pane sashes. The doorway, located between the second and third bays, has jambs with simple abaci, and the lintel is inscribed with 'R JA 1762'. There is a 20th-century four-panelled door. The house has end stacks and a ridge stack situated between the first and second bays. To the right, there is a lower outbuilding that is also two storeys tall, featuring one shuttered window on the first floor. In front of the house, there is a low stone wall and four gate-piers made of ashlar, which have diagonal tooling and pyramidal caps. The 19th-century railings are adorned with floriated lance heads that alternate with semi-circular loops.
