Description
East View and Virginia House is a house and added cottage under one roof, now functioning as two houses. It is dated 1648 and constructed of rubble with a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and features rear outshuts. There are five first-floor windows in total, which have sash frames with glazing bars of 16 panes, although some have been renewed.
The doorway to East View is located in the third bay and has chamfered jambs with a newer lintel and a boarded door. Above this doorway is a plaque displaying the date. The building also retains remains of chamfered mullioned windows, with some jambs re-used, and there are three blocked single-lights on the first floor. The doorway to Virginia House is situated between the fourth and fifth bays, with a blocked square window above it.
The structure includes four chimney stacks: one at each end and two located between the first and second bays, and between the fourth and fifth bays. The left end stack features a large chimney-breast that projects from the gable end.
