Description
The Great Barn, located to the west of Low Hall, dates back to 1690. It is constructed from coursed, squared ashlar stone and features a graduated stone slate roof. The barn is a single storey with a variety of window openings. The central entrance consists of a double board wagon door set within a chamfered segmental arched surround. On either side of this entrance, there are three bays of chamfered breathers. To the left, there is a pair of board doors with chamfered stepped lintels, and to the right, a board door also in a chamfered surround, which has a lintel inscribed with 'TP 1690' and a returned hoodmould. Adjacent to this door are two bays of chamfered breathers, followed by a 19th-century six-pane casement window. On the extreme left, there is a casement window in a chamfered surround, with a square opening above it. Inside, the barn features trusses that are corbelled.
