Description
This is a barn located to the north-east of Lowfold Farmhouse, dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of ashlar and rubblestone, topped with a graduated stone slate roof. The barn features a central board door that is set back behind a segmental arch with voussoirs. To the right, there is another board door with a moulded lintel and an outshut. On the left side, there is a blocked doorway with a chamfered decorated lintel and square breathers. The barn has shaped kneelers and moulded stone copings. It is an early example of a common barn design in Wharfedale, characterized by a wagon door set back with a hay loft above. In front of the doors, there is a covered area that serves as a cart-shed, with small rooms on each side.
