Description
This barn, located approximately 10 metres south of Holly Tree Farmhouse, dates back to 1793 and was repaired around 1980. It is constructed from coursed grey gritstone and features a graduated stone slate roof. The barn is two storeys high and has three bays, with quoins at the corners. The central cart entrance has a cambered arch and quoined jambs, while there is a loading door on the first floor to the right. The gable ends have shaped kneelers and gable copings. On the right return, the gable at the rear features two tiers of two round-arched windows with plain surrounds, projecting posts, and keystones. A date plaque is set into the gable between the upper windows, displaying the incised lettering "W" above a crudely worked human head; this plaque was originally at the apex of the gable and was removed during the rebuilding in around 1980.
