Description

This is a disused lime kiln built into the hillside, located approximately 50 meters south of Stonehouse Bridge. It likely dates from the early 19th century and is constructed from roughly coursed sandstone rubble. The kiln features curved and battered sides with a flat face, and has a barrel-shaped draw-hole opening that is topped with a lintel slab. The interior of the kiln has been filled in and the top is now grassed over. This kiln is a good example of its type and forms a group with Stonehouse Bridge.
