Description

Cow Dub Farmhouse and the attached barn are likely from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with an 18th-century addition. The farmhouse is built of random rubble with quoins, painted white on the front and rear, while the west gable is tarred. The barn is made of coursed sandstone rubble with quoins, and both structures have graduated stone slate roofs, except for the west slope of the farmhouse wing, which is covered in blue slate.

The layout features a two-unit house oriented east-west, with a broad gabled wing on the north side of the second unit. The barn is attached to the east end of the house and wraps around into the re-entrant angle of the house under a catslide roof.

The farmhouse is two storeys high with a one-window entrance front in the gable of the wing. The entrance has a square-headed doorway offset to the left, an oblong window to the right with altered glazing, and a four-pane sash window on the first floor. There is a gable chimney to the right and a ridge chimney at the junction with the barn to the left.

The barn, which is single-storey under a catslide roof, features a central wagon doorway with a wooden lintel and 19th-century hung doors, a square window to the left, and a small one-light window to the right. At the west end, there is a lean-to coalhouse in the angle of the wing and another lean-to attached to the west gable. The south front of the farmhouse has three windows, with a square-headed doorway offset to the left, a square window to the left of the door, and two rectangular windows to the right. There are similar rectangular windows on the first floor, with a small square window offset to the right between them. All windows have altered glazing. The south side of the barn features a wide lean-to porch.

Inside, the house part in the west bay has boxed beams and a wooden under-drawn ceiling. There is a spiral staircase in the front left corner of the wing, next to an old plank door with strap hinges. The farmhouse and barn form a group with the Sportsman's Inn located approximately 10 meters to the north.
