Description

Oddendale Old Hall is a large house with an adjoining cart-shed, dating from the 17th century with alterations from the 18th century and a bay added to the right in the 19th century. The building is constructed of wet-dashed rubble with quoins, sitting on a boulder plinth, and features a graduated slate roof. It has two storeys and consists of seven bays overall. The entrance includes a plank door set within a stone gabled porch that has a bench.

To the left, there are three multi-light windows and a fire window, while the right side has a pivoted window. Above, there are three multi-light windows and a casement. The multi-light windows are of various dates, mostly with plain surrounds and flat mullions, though some have chamfered surrounds and mullions. Two ground floor windows on the left are placed under hoodmoulds with labels. All windows, except for the right-hand bay, are square-leaded. The left-hand bay features an outshut with a plank side door, and there is a segment-headed cart entrance at the rear.

The chimneys include a 17th-century corniced and stepped stone chimney to the left, a 19th-century stone chimney to the right, and a brick chimney in the middle. Inside, there is an inglenook fireplace with a cupboard to the side in the ground floor left room, and a plank and muntin partition opposite that incorporates a court cupboard and plate rack with splat supports. A similar plank and muntin partition is found in the room above. The interior also features 17th and 18th-century panelled doors and stop-chamfered beams throughout.
