Description
This is a farmhouse that has been converted into an outbuilding, located approximately 5 metres west of Low Trenhouse. It dates from the mid to late 17th century, with some early 19th-century changes to the windows and a conversion to its current use around 1911. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and has a graduated stone slate roof.
It stands two storeys tall and features three bays, with a two-storey porch situated between the first and second bays. The left side has quoins. The porch has an entrance with a boarded door set in a quoined surround, topped by a segmental arch under a square chamfered head. Above the door, there is a small single-light window.
In the first bay, the windows were originally sashes but are now boarded up, with plain stone surrounds on both floors. The second bay, to the right of the porch, has a window similar to the first bay on the ground floor, and a two-light hollow-chamfered mullioned window on the first floor. The third bay has similar windows, but the mullion is missing from the first-floor window.
The building has ridge stacks, including a large main stack to the right of the porch and a smaller stack to the left. The interior has not been recorded in detail during the resurvey, but it is reported to contain a large fireplace with a broken lintel supported by corbels in the right side of the central room.
