Description
This small barn, located approximately 5 meters north-west of Gawthrop Hall, is likely from the 18th century. It is constructed from mixed rubble with quoins and features roofs made of stone slate and slate. The barn is designed in an L-plan that is oriented diagonally to the house.
The south-east range has an added outshut at the left corner, with a wagon doorway to the right that is protected by a cast-iron roof bridging from the outshut to the other range. There is an oblong window to the left. The north-east range includes a large square-headed doorway on the re-entrant side and a loading door in the gable wall that has been altered to serve as a window.
The interior has not been inspected. This barn forms part of a group with Gawthrop Hall and is included as part of a significant farmstead site. It was previously listed as "Barn to south-west" by mistake.
