Description

The Church of St Peter is a parish church built in 1866 by John Colson. It is constructed from rubble flint with stone dressings and features a roof made of plain and fishscale tiles, along with unusual ridge tiles and cedar shingles on the spire. The church includes a chancel with a north vestry, north and south transepts, and a nave. The windows are designed in an early decorated style. There is a southwest tower with a south porch at the bottom stage and a decorated timber top stage that supports a wide broach spire with oversailing eaves.

Inside, the church has plain plastered walls. The chancel features a painted boarded roof, and the chancel arch is supported by corbelled granite shafts with foliated capitals. There is a stone pulpit on short granite columns and a font made of Purbeck marble in a 12th-century style. On the nave wall, there is an 18th-century arms board. The porch contains small 18th-century marble monuments and an ancient holy water stone.
