Description

This is a house, now a shop, dating back to the 16th century, but remodelled in the early 19th century. It is timber-framed and covered in stucco, with a parapet concealing the roof. The building is three storeys high and has a two-window front. The first floor has sash windows with glazing bars, and the second floor has similar sash windows with glazing bars. A modern double shop-front projects on the ground floor, featuring a central glazed door. Painted signs on the front display the name ‘W.E. BAXTER LTD’ above the second floor, “PRINTERS” between the second-floor windows, and "FOUNDED 1802" centrally above the first floor. A stone arched access leads to the basement, situated between numbers 34 and 35 to the right. Internally, part of the basement is constructed of chalk blocks, likely dating to the 19th century.
