Description

Bumbles Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century, with later alterations in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of roughly coursed rubble Malmstone walls with a tiled roof. The house has a T-shaped plan, with a gabled projection on the east side of its north front. It is two storeys high with an attic, and originally had 1.3 windows, although two of these have been filled in. The roof is plain. The walls have brick dressings, quoins, hoodmoulds, a first-floor drip mould, and a plinth. The windows have chamfered mullions and window surrounds, with some old leaded lights, originally casements. The front door has a thick moulded frame with mouldings that stop at the base, a canopy, and a four-panelled door set above stone steps. The east and south elevations feature 18th-century leaded casement windows. A doorway on the south side has a solid frame, a moulded canopy, and a six-panelled door with two glazed panels at the top. The west gable is largely tile-hung, incorporating scalloped bands and a tapered brick chimney stack.
