Description
The lychgate south of the Church of St Nicholas is a small openwork timber-framed structure built around 1871, likely designed by Sir Arthur Blomfield. It features a post on either side with curved braces that support a two-bay roof, which includes an arch-braced central truss and open ends with collar and king-posts. The roof is covered with clay plain tiles, accented by a band of blue scalloped tiles, crested ridge tiles, and an iron cross at the ridge. The gate has cusped arch open panels and was erected as a memorial to Adela Knight.
