Description
The Five Bells Public House is a mid-18th century establishment located on Buriton High Street. The building features walls made of malmstone ashlar with a brick plinth, quoins, rubbed flat arches, and a first-floor band. It has a tiled roof with a catslide at the rear. The symmetrical south front is two storeys high and has three windows, which are casements. The doorway consists of a six-panelled door, with the top two panels glazed, set within a plain frame. Above the door is a stone moulded canopy supported by carved brackets. One window on the west side has a stone lintel. Attached to the west end of the main block is a single-storeyed wing that extends forward, showcasing similar architectural features and a large sash window. This wing meets the lower roadway as a two-storeyed block, which has been altered.
