Description

Goleigh Manor House is a house that dates back to 1479, with early 19th-century and 20th-century alterations. The walls are made of mixed materials, featuring close-studding on the first floor with ironstone infill, ironstone lower walls with stone dressings, and brickwork in Monk bond on the rear walls. The end walls are constructed of coursed and rubble malmstone, also with brick and stone dressings. The roof is gabled and half-hipped, covered in tiles, with some tile-hung gables.

Originally a medieval timber-framed hall with crosswings, the house has seen later additions of fireplaces, refacing of most walls, and extensions and restoration in the 20th century. The northeast front has two storeys with a symmetrical arrangement of windows: 1-2-1-1. The tile-hung gables are located at each side and on the lower northwest side, where the ironstone cladding conceals the former jetties of the wings. The windows are casements, and there is a Tudor-arched doorway accessed by a flight of steps.

The rear of the house features brick walls above ironstone, with wings made of malmstone. It includes casement windows and a 20th-century ground floor extension with a large glazed area. Inside, much of the framework is exposed, showcasing a massive chimney-breast and some 20th-century work that maintains a traditional character.
