Description

The Institute is an 18th-century house located on the east side of East Street in Petworth. It stands three storeys tall and features five windows. The building is constructed of red brick and has a stringcourse along its façade. A modillion eaves cornice adds to its architectural detail, and it is topped with a hipped tiled roof. The windows retain their original glazing bars. The entrance includes a doorway flanked by pilasters and topped with a pediment. There are later additions on the south side of the building.
