Description
The barn at Gander Down Farm is a 17th-century structure. It features a timber frame that is clad in weatherboard and corrugated iron. The barn has three bays and includes an aisle, with a midstray positioned centrally on one side. There is an added outshot in the center of the opposite side and at one end bay, along with a lower shed attached to that end. The roof is half hipped at the end where the shed is located. Inside, the barn has a queen post roof supported by continuous purlins, cambered ties, curved braces, and windbraces. The posts rest on brick piers, and there are aisle plates and aisle ties connecting to the wallplates.
