Description

Church Cottage is a 17th-century cottage located on Church Lane in Martyr Worthy. It is timber-framed, with brick infill on the ground floor and to the right end, and wattle and daub infill to the first floor, all under a thatched roof. The cottage comprises three bays and a smoke bay. A 20th-century tiled lean-to brick porch extends from the smoke bay, positioned to the right of the centre. The left bay has 5-light and single casement windows. Above the porch are two small single casements, and the two left bays feature 17th-century oriel windows, one supported by a single moulded bracket, and the other rebuilt with a 2-light casement. A half-hipped roof includes a ridge piece. A large ridge stack, situated above the door, contains three flues.
