Description
The Milburys is a public house located in Beauworth, originally known as The Fox and Hounds Public House. It was built in the mid-18th century, with additions made in the 19th century. The building is constructed of brick and features later tile hanging, topped with an old plain tile roof.
The front of the building has two bays, while a three-bay wing extends to the rear on the right side, and there is a single-storey 19th-century extension on the left that runs backwards. The structure is two storeys high, with a cellar and an attic, and has a slightly irregular two-bay front.
To the left of the centre, there is a top-glazed four-panel door set behind a hip-roofed brick porch from the 18th century. To the right of the door, there is a four-light casement window, and to the left, a three-light casement window, along with a two-light casement in the extension. Above these, there are two 19th-century twelve-pane sash windows. The roof features two hipped dormers with two-light casements. The gable end stacks are positioned lengthways on the left, while the roof of the extension is hipped.
Inside the 19th-century extension, there is a wooden treadmill, measuring 4 meters in diameter and 1 meter in width, which was used for drawing water.
