Description
The single lodge and gateway to Rookesbury, built around 1830, is located at the southern entrance to the park. The lodge features stucco walls and a low parapet with a blocking course above a cornice, topped by a low-pitched hipped slate roof. The west front is symmetrical and single-storeyed, with a window on each side of a central recess that is flanked by pilasters and contains the entrance, which has sash windows and a glazed door. There is a 20th-century extension at the rear. The gateway consists of massive coupled piers on either side of the carriageway, made of stucco with simple mouldings on the caps. It is adorned with wrought iron gates and rails between the piers.
