Description

Wickham Bridge is a road bridge that spans the River Meon and was built in 1792. It features red brick walls constructed in English bond and has slightly pointed small archways. The bridge has a stone-weathered parapet that is raised by curves in the center, above which is a stone plaque inscribed with "BUILT By Subscription 1792." The bridge extends across four low arches, with the two western arches closely situated as outlets from the Chesapeake Mill. The central arch aligns with the natural flow of the river, while the eastern arch serves a tributary that joins the main stream just below the bridge. The south wall of the bridge is the original structure, which turns at an angle at each end and concludes with a pier on the eastern side.
