Description

Wickham War Memorial is situated in the churchyard of the Church of St Nicholas on Southwick Road, Wickham. It features a Latin cross made of Portland limestone, adorned with crockets. The cross is mounted on a slender octagonal shaft, which is set upon a square plinth decorated with carved roses around its top. The memorial stands on an octagonal base with three steps.

The names of those who fell in the First World War are inscribed on the plinth. The top step bears raised lettering that reads "1914 - 1919 TO/ THE GLORIOUS/ MEMORY OF/ THE MEN OF/ WICKHAM WHO/ FOUGHT AND/ FELL FOR FAITH/ AND FREEDOM." Names from the Second World War have been added to one side of the bottom step, preceded by the dates "1939 - 1945."
